OTHER INFO: Maverick is a dog that Second Chance took responsibility for after his original rescue let him down. He was put into various unsuitable homes which left him scared and unable to cope so we stepped in to help him.
We decided that Maverick needed some time to calm down and learn before being put straight back into another home so he went to stay with Joy at CBRC, where he has been for a little while now.
As with all of our dogs at CBRC, you will need to live in the Devon/Somerset area.
Maverick has done well during his time at the centre and is a really lovely boy. He is lead, muzzle and harness trained and walks well on the lead.
Maverick is high level stranger reactive and can be dog reactive at times, he will need to usea secure safe space in the home for when visitors come round. His reactivity is always forward coming as opposed to trying to create space or move away from his trigger .
Maverick would benefit from rural or semi rural home with savvy owners who have Collie, GSD or LGD/Mioritic experience and are happy to meet with Maverick on a few occasions beforehand at the centre.
Maverick would enjoy walks in quiet areas where he can explore and enjoy some space and freedom away from potential triggers and the hustle and bustle of a town environment.
Maverick is a very clever boy, he has done well with his training, he listens and responds well to positive reward training. Maverick will do really well in the right home.
When Maverick trusts he trusts completely. He is very cuddly and loves a fuss. He is a bouncy, active boy with a strong character .
